Kevin Houchin, Esq.
Kevin E. Houchin is a lawyer, graphic designer, husband, father and distinguished creative spirit. Brooke Deratany Goldfarb, Esq.
Brooke Deratany Goldfarb, a graduate of Harvard Law School and the University of Virginia, formed Peaceful Beach Mediation and Collaboration in order to help families through the divorce process in a more dignified way. A Florida Supreme Court certified family mediator; divorce, marriage & life coach; and self-proclaimed “peacemaking lawyer,” Ms. Goldfarb has been a member of the Florida Bar since 1996. She is an adjunct professor at Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, where she teaches Introduction to Law for pre-law majors.
Ms. Goldfarb–married with two children and two dogs–actively promotes health, wellness and the Arts in her community and was honored for her community and professional leadership with the LEAD Brevard 4 Under 40 Award in 2009. Space Coast Business Magazine featured Ms. Goldfarb in August 2009 as a young professional to watch. She was also highlighted as a positive community force and role model in the April 2010 issue of Charm on the Space Coast Magazine.
Ms. Goldfarb began her career in Miami, Florida in 1996 as an associate at the international law firm of Greenberg Traurig. In 1998, she moved to Washington, DC.
Upon Ms. Goldfarb’s return to Brevard County, Florida in 2004, Governor Bush appointed her to the Judicial Nominating Commission for the 18th Judicial Circuit. As a member of the JNC, Ms. Goldfarb helped place more than half a dozen county and circuit court judges in Brevard and Seminole counties. In her hometown of Indialantic, Florida, Ms. Goldfarb practiced in various areas of the law until focusing her energy on Peaceful Beach in 2008.
J. Kim Wright, Esq.
J. Kim Wright J.D., is a pioneer in the field of law as a healing profession. A graduate of the University of Florida College of Law, she passed the North Carolina Bar in 1994, her third successful bar exam and the only membership that she currently maintains. She was the original founder of the Renaissance Lawyer Society, a non-profit organization of lawyers “supporting legal transformation and innovation” and wrote their original web site of almost 400 pages of information. The “RLS” site showcased ways of practicing law that were solution-oriented, collaborative, restorative, peacemaking and healing and promoted the new approaches as a movement and new paradigm of law.
She is widely recognized as one of the leaders defining and guiding the movement. In her work, she has met thousands of lawyers and has developed meaningful connections with key leaders who are influential with thousands of other lawyers. She has consulted with media – mainstream, professional and alternative.
After years of working in the field, she identified the need for a central information resource and “virtual community center”. She launched CuttingEdgeLaw.com in March, 2009. As the publisher and managing editor of CuttingEdgeLaw.com, she and her business partner, Michael Matthews, have interviewed over 100 lawyers, law professors, law students, judges, and allied professionals who are working to create a new paradigm of legal practice.
Kim coaches lawyers on transforming their law practices and helping Lawyers Find Their Authentic Voice and Tell the Whole Truth About Who They Are, What They’re Doing and Why They’re Doing It. In November of 2009, the ABA named Kim as one of the 50 “Legal Rebels who are “finding new ways to practice law, represent their clients, adjudicate cases and train the next generation of lawyers,”In 2009, the American Bar Association contacted Kim to author a book detailing this new paradigm in law. Lawyers as Peacemakers: Practicing Holistic, Problem-Solving Law was released April 2010 and reached the ABA best seller list from pre-orders alone. It was also named one of the 50 Flagship Books for the American Bar Association.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Kim raised 16 children: two birth children, plus step-children and other children who needed a home. Kim started law school with seven children at home, ages spanning 2-16 years old. Her title has since expanded to include “grandmother” and her oldest grandson just became a father.
In Spring of 2008, Kim gave up her home and office and began to travel full-time. Since then she has spent time in 27 states.

Prior to moving in-house, Cole owned his own law firm. He began his legal career as a trial lawyer. Having been on both sides of the attorney-client relationship for over 30 years, including 18 years as General Counsel, Cole knows first-hand what the client wants and how to deliver and address their needs. Nancy Tilton Hand, Esq.
Nancy Tilton Hand is an attorney, author of Congruence, Influence and Negotiation The Negotiation Ninja Basic Training Workbook, and the owner of Negotiation Ninja, through which she provides group and one-on-one training in Neuro-Linguistic Programming and negotiation for attorneys and attorney-mediators. She also offers conflict coaching and project-specific coaching for trial, mediation, settlement and contract negotiations.
Nancy is a contract and intellectual property licensing attorney, mediator, licensed Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) trainer, NLP Master Practitioner and has been a Licensed Practitioner of NLP for 26 years. In addition, Nancy has extensive experience in maritime personal injury (plaintiff) trial preparation including mock trials, focus groups, jury rapport, and the crafting of highly effective arguments, including opening and closing statements.

She retired from her own firm (www.GarloWard.com) after 16 years of active legal work, where she developed a general civil and administrative litigation and business practice representing health care providers, emphasizing preventive law and client legal education.
Her current focus is working with successful mid-career women professionals and business owners in the areas of business development, strategic marketing design, professional career transition, social entrepreneurism, corporate social responsibility cultivation, and developing legacy projects to make a difference that lasts for generations.

Annabelle Berrios, Esq.
Annabelle Berrios, a graduate of Boston College Law School, practiced law for 13 years, mostly in New York City. She taught lunchtime yoga classes to attorneys at New York Supreme Court. She has accumulated over 1000 hours of training in yoga and related disciplines, such as Structural Yoga Therapy, Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy, meditation, Non Violent Communication and Sacred Commerce, among others. She is a contributing writer in the bestselling book Lawyers as Peacemakers: Practicing Holistic, Problem-Solving Law published by the American Bar Association. Cameron Powell, Esq.
Cameron Powell is the founder of, among other businesses, Feroce Coaching, Hot Blue Coaching, and Charles River Recruiting. Mr. Powell founded or was an early leader in, and successfully sold, numerous start-up companies, some of them venture- and angel-backed. For two of them he served as General Counsel. Today he coaches lawyers and other business owners and entrepreneurs on how to create business models, draft business plans, and put into place on- and off-line marketing plans, with a particular focus on empowering professionals to strategize and run their own Internet and social media marketing.
Following graduation from Harvard Law School, Mr. Powell held a judicial clerkship with the Chief Judge of the U.S. District of Colorado, after which he was accepted into the highly competitive Attorney General’s Honors Program at the United States Department of Justice.
As a trial lawyer at DOJ, Mr. Powell litigated cases in federal courts around the country on issues of environmental, constitutional, contract, and tort law. At Foley & Lardner, Mr. Powell next worked in the Litigation and Intellectual Property Departments.
Mr. Powell next joined the Corporate Executive Board (NYSE: EXBD), a best-practices consultancy, where, as part of the talent-focused Corporate Leadership Council, he traveled the world to speak with senior executive teams of Global 2000 companies about leadership and talent.
Mr. Powell was elected Class Marshal of his law school and continues to act as the Chairman of the Reunion Committee. He earned a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Colorado at Boulder, summa cum laude, where he was valedictorian. He lives in Central Oregon, where he skis, hikes, trail-runs, and otherwise takes advantage of the beautiful outdoors.
